Emma Barnett

Emma Barnett Instagram – Last week I invited a journalist to the last working windmill in London. Like you do. I’ve long admired @evawiseman so I was thrilled she said yes to hanging with me @brixtonwindmill – one of my favourite local places that weirdly so many people still don’t know about.

And yet it was the first place I thought to include when we started taking photos for our colouring books.

The result is this lovely article in today’s Observer and online @guardian telling the story of our family business @colouryourstreets – the local and bespoke colouring book company and our mission to map the UK and beyond.

We spoke about what community means; the importance of people’s local areas to them; matrescence; what it’s like to work with your husband – plus I admitted one my more embarrassing nicknames at school… the piece is online now.

There may have also been an unintentional joke you can only make in a windmill… keep swiping.

Thank you to the lovely volunteers @brixtonwindmill for having us. Your work keeps the places we all value going and gives heart to our local communities. And the millstone placement was perfect. 👌 (and yes I am just casually hanging out of a windmill window for the photo).

And thanks to @thejeremyvine for that very early order. It was such a joyous coincidence. We aren’t yet a year old but are learning so much as we go – as well as discovering so many incredible places across the UK just like our windmill.

Thank you for all of the suggestions of where we capture next and keep em coming over @colouryourstreets

We are ready! 🖍️ ✍🏼 🎨
