Voices of a People’s History closes out our summer of audience engagement talks, pop-up demonstrations, and electrifying performances with our flagship program ‘The People Speak—And Sing!’ Featuring the words and songs of abolitionists, dissenters, and visionaries such as Frederick Douglass, Billie Holiday, James Baldwin, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Angela Y. Davis, and more, this program will highlight the struggles of our past, and provide hope for a just future.
Bringing these words to life are Linda Diaz, Queen Esther, Amber Gray, Philip Harper, Jerrie Johnson, Russell G. Jones, Margaret Odette, and Sharp Radway, with narration from Anthony Arnove and Haley Pessin.
We dedicate this performance to the path-breaking Bernice Johnson Reagon, who passed away on July 16, 2024.
