This summer, @simpsonstreet is launching TWO projects that dive deep into exploring and exposing the relationship between fathers who have experienced incarceration and the families that love them. DAUGHTERS is a gripping and moving documentary that launched this week on Netflix . And UNPRISONED is a heartfelt dramedy, currently in its second season, streaming now on Hulu.
Playing Paige Alexander, a character inspired by UNPRISONED’s creator @tracymcmillan, has been one of the most transformative experiences of my career. I’ve been able to dive to new depths of my soul as an actor, mother and daughter to further understand the love and devastation that being separated from a family member can bring. So when I first heard about DAUGHTERS and saw the ways in which @sistah_angela and @girlsforachange were transforming the lives of these young girls and their families, I had to be involved in whatever way I could.
