Louisa Connolly-Burnham Instagram – For our latest In Conversation, we’re thrilled to have had the chance to sit down with Louisa Connolly-Burnham (@louisaconnollyburnham); an actress, filmmaker and writer/director/producer extraordinaire of the outstanding new short film, Sister Wives.
Sister Wives tells the tale of two young women, Kaidence (Connolly-Burnham) and Galilee (@mia_mbruce), living in a strict, fundamentalist, polygamous society in 2003 Utah, USA. As they find themselves married to the same man (played by Michael Fox), Kaidence and Galilee begin to develop feelings for each other. The film offers a vital perspective to the canon of coming-out films, and is one of our favourites of the year — it’s no surprise to us it’s been selected for a number of film festivals, including the HollyShorts Film Festival and The Iris Prize.
Louisa talks us through how the project came to fruition, why this was a story she wanted to tell, and how blown away she has been by the reaction to the film, that will no doubt continue to dazzle audiences as it continues its festival run.
