Marina Valmont Instagram – @WellsFargo recently fired over a dozen employees for “simulation of keyboard activity,” otherwise known as “fake working”!
And the staffers were all part of the firm’s wealth- and investment-management unit, so those aren’t people you want to be faking it!
This came to light because of filings made with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and it wasn’t made clear if these infractions were committed by people working from home.
It’s worth noting that Wells Fargo now expects most staffers to be in at least three days a week, and more for management. But whether they were pretending to work in the office or at home – or for that matter, maybe at a beach somewhere – this is a definite black eye for the financial institution.
Particularly since we were JUST starting to forget the scandal that broke in 2016, when Wells Fargo was discovered to have opened MILLIONS of fake accounts without customer consent!
