Martha Plimpton Instagram – Gena Rowlands is, was, and always will be my most favorite actress, and my most absolute acting heroine of all time. There is and never will be anyone as imaginative and ready and beautiful and intelligent and interesting as her. I was lucky to get to work with her in my teens and she was absolutely kind, bummed cigs off me, and I was a nervous twit, but Jesus god, I worshipped her. A Woman Under the Influence is usually seen as her greatest performance, and the movie is flawless. But Gloria was the first time I saw her, at 10 years old in a movie theater, she was the first woman action hero I had seen, and she would forever be my ideal. Gloria is, for me, a perfectly incredible performance. Stunning. Raging and visceral. Influence is wonderful, but everyone loves to see a woman break down. Gloria, she doesn’t break.
