Mona Kakade Instagram – Movie re-releases are all the rage today, and as a photographer, I thought it would be great to re-release some of my photo work too. This series was originally done for Chennai Day in 2021, right when the lockdown was lifted, and people were slowly getting back to normal life. Public shoot permissions were still limited, but I was determined to create a photo series for Chennai Day. I reached out to the Chennai city police commissioner at the time, Mr. Sylendra Babu, through my Coimbatore connections, asking for permission to do the shoot with a small team. Unfortunately, he denied it, citing safety concerns.
Despite the setback, we decided to go ahead with the shoot, figuring we’d leave if anyone asked us to. Our 4-member team visited various accessible spots around Chennai and took some shots. However, the stress of the commissioner’s refusal and worries about COVID-19 impacted my focus, leading to some compositions that didn’t meet my expectations. I felt a bit let down by this project because of the many compromises we had to make.
But now, in this era of AI, I’ve been able to easily correct the issues that bothered me all these years. I’m planning to create a reel showcasing the before and after images and how AI helped me enhance this series. Would you be interested? If so, comment below and let me know!
