from a country that once crowned women to one that cuts them down 💔 there is nobody on this planet more resilient than a persian woman. ask anyone who’s ever crossed one and they’ll tell you—you won’t find anyone who will love harder, work harder or fight harder. you can’t convince me otherwise. i have been so surprised by the volume of people who have messaged me the last week, completely unaware that a pre-revolution iran existed. many baffled that it was home to trendsetters, luxury, royalty and forward thinkers. someone even said they assumed it was an “underdeveloped, third world country”. here is a glimpse back in time. a time machine to when iran was actually a promising place for women. when the islamic revolution happened in 1979, 70 years of advancements in #iranian women’s rights were rolled back virtually overnight (sound familiar? that’s why what’s happening in #iran rn is something everyone should care about because as we know…history has a way of repeating itself unless we work together and stand up for change). my heart hurts for my people and i wish i could do more. i’m figuring out what to do, but for now, here’s an ode to beautiful #persian women like #mahsaamini and #nedaaghasoltan 💔 because i think it’s important for people to see what the women of iran looked like before their freedom and right to express themselves was stripped from them 💔may the #iranprotests bring change 😭 a girl can dream #freeiran | Posted on 26/Sep/2022 03:28:04
