Nastia Liukin Instagram – Over the course of my life and career, I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most talented individuals. But for me, talent always comes second to the kind of person someone is. Because talent will come and go, but what and who one is at their core – that is what always remains.
Working the Olympics is a different kind of exhaustion than competing at the Olympics. Similarly, though, you’re running on adrenaline. It’s two hour a night sleeps, it’s running (literally sprinting) around the host city with bags and changes of clothes, it’s gobbling down a croissant to make sure you’ve eaten something that day.
And similar to competing at the Olympics, when working the Olympics, a lot depends on the team around you. Which brings me to my point. I can honestly say that each day I woke up in Paris, I was excited to meet that day’s challenges. Excited for the long day of work ahead and sleepless nights. Excited because of the team of people surrounding me on a daily basis.
To my teammates of another kind, thank you. Thank you for your energy, your kindness, your passion, and your desire to push the boundaries. You all possess so much talent in your respective fields, but it’s truly your hearts that made all of this possible.
I’m leaving Paris with a very grateful heart, memories to last a lifetime, and excitement looking ahead. But first, maybe a quick nap.
