Salin de Giroud
Salin-de-Giraud lies southeast of the Camargue delta, on the right bank of the Rhône. The village was established in 1856. The salt marshes located in the southeastern corner of the Camargue have made Salin-de-Giraud a major center of salt production.
What are pink lakes?
The pink colour in a pink lake is actually caused by certain algae that are present in the water. However, these man made saltpans are similar as they also have this microorganism that makes the water pink. That is why flamingoes are pink as they feed on these pink microorganisms.
How much does it cost ?
It cost 10 euro to enter the salt pans .
However if you go at 6pm there will be no one so you could try walking in.
When is the best time to visit ?
June to early August !
