As we come to 78th Independence Day, we see women excelling in various fields, riding bikes, leading in IT companies, wonderfully talented actresses, musicians, scholars and academics, scientists , teachers etc, and are setting inspiring standards.
Yet, on the other side, women face brutal violence, including rape and murder, and often feel unsafe even in their homes or workplaces.
Is this true freedom?
Is this what Independence Day is meant to represent?
Real freedom will come when a woman can walk freely at night, returning from school, work, or travel, without fearing for her safety.
Only then will we truly celebrate Independence Day.
