Sayani Gupta Instagram – I often get messages from photographers for portrait shoots. Nothing has ever materialised thanks to my laziness.
@wouterleduc travelled in trains from Netherlands following the Silk Route for the last two and half months photographing faces and ended up in India.
He shoots only analog.
He messaged me on Instagram.. apparently I had come up in his research as exciting artists in India 😬
He was in Kolkata and so was I. I immediately got intrigued about his journey and wanted to just collaborate with someone who was so driven towards his art form. And who was dedicatedly and actively engaged in the analog format in the world of AI.
He shot me in natural light in his Medium format camera in my second home @sienna_calcutta
No lights (not even room practicals), no light meter, no taamjhaam. Only him, his camera and tripod.
And I must say.. the fact that we don’t know what the photos look like until developed was truly liberating! 😂
We were joined by @paramitagh who also happened to be in Calcutta and we all had a jolly good time chatting, shooting & then stuffing our faces with the delicious food that Sienna makes. While also talking about AI & what is it likely to do to us as artists.
All in all, I realised I need to stop being lazy.. and embrace the joy of meeting and collaborating with exciting people from here & all over the world!
