Shweta Menon Instagram – One of the most devastating natural disasters in Kerala’s history struck Wayanad in the early hours of July 30, 2024.
People stood waist-deep in muddy water, hands raised, hoping to be rescued. These heart-wrenching scenes have left lasting scars.
Over 275 lives have been confirmed lost, and nearly a hundred homes are buried or swept away. Thousands of people have been rescued, and efforts are now focused on recovering the bodies of those still missing and providing care for the survivors.
In this time of need, people from all walks of life came together to support Wayanad. Just as during the 2018 floods, the unity and compassion of Keralites shone brightly, proving once again that Kerala is truly God’s own country, with God’s own people.
A heartfelt thank you to the air force, army, police, rescue teams, and all the volunteers who have worked tirelessly to save lives and provide relief.
