So true, in ITALY , tradition was you used to be named after your parents or grandparents . End of story. Not so much today anymore.
Hence my name SOFIA . I’m named after my grandmother . Not Sofia Loren , although we all love her !
My brother is named after my grandfather GIUSEPPE .
But because there is so many different family members ( on my grandfathers father side 11 children on my grand mother SOFIA side 11 children and the towns in italy are small with only 10 different names ) There’s going to be a lot of GIUSEPPE’s … , so you will hear from GIUSEPPE. to GIUSEPPE the barber , to Peppe , to Peppino , to Giuseppino , to PINO ( my brother) , to PINUCCIO ( which means little Pino, of little Giuseppino, …. Oh maronn’ ’ …I’m glad traditions stopped progressing and name selections are more now 😂 Otherwise what would the next name be? 😂 😂
