“Just Kids” by Patti Smith; like many books before it, I’ve only read half. I started reading this book to get into the mindset of 1970s NYC. But I felt a profound loneliness, as the pages went on, that stirred a longing in me for young love. I felt I had missed out on true love somewhere and yearned for the connection I once thought I knew so well.
There’s something about NY, where you’re lost but always found. NYC is probably my first love. The place I was born and the place I grew into an adult when I moved there at 18 for University. I still haven’t finished “Just Kids” but I will. It’s in a box in NY waiting for my return. I’ll see you soon my love.
