Jessenia Gallegos Instagram - Being lusted over is not a flex. I was an overweight kid growing up until I was 16. No one ever broke their necks for me. No one ever batted an eye. I was fat, I wore glasses & I had braces; instead I was bullied and made to feel ugly. It wasn’t until my family pediatrician scared me skinny. He told me I would live a poor quality of life if I continued and that I would have serious medical issues. I’ll be 40 in September so you can imagine what it was like for a 16 y/o at the time with no way to research and learn healthy ways to lose weight or be a part of a community that understood me. I felt alone so what did my young mind do? I starved. My young mind associated food with weight gain so my logic assured me not eating ; I’d lose weight and so I did. And I became anorexic; then later bulimic. It’s odd the attention I got when I lost weight; boys approached me that never did before ; I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. Even my young mind thought it was messed up that all they cared was looks when there’s so much more to me. I still feel the same now. Only difference is I’ve learned that food is a good thing, I workout & I balance a healthy lifestyle. #relatable #realtalk #keepingitreal

I heard my name called out & to my surprise a lovely young woman got up from her table, politely asked if she could talk a photo w me. My heart filled w humility said “ OF COURSE!” She introduced me to her family & also asked if I could take a photo w her daughter. my heart melted 🥹🫂 As we said our goodbyes she said, “Keep inspiring people w your content.” I was so moved my eyes teared up. 🥹🫶🏽 Two weeks ago at my nieces bday something similar happened while I was talking to parents at the party. I was deeply touched. 🥹 If I’m goin go to be honest sometimes I struggle with using my voice due to the negative backlash I get. I’m human , it hurts. I’ll be 40 in September so you can imagine what it was like for a 16 y/o at the time with no way to research and learn healthy ways to lose weight or be a part of a community that understood me. I felt alone so what did my young mind do? I starved. My young mind associated food with weight gain so my logic assured me not eating ; I’d lose weight and so I did. And I became anorexic; then later bulimic. It’s odd the attention I got when I lost weight; boys approached me that never did before ; I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. Even my young mind thought it was messed up that all they cared was looks when there’s so much more to me. I still feel the same now. I’m genetically bottom heavy so building an upper body took time. ✨The first slide was the last time I walked on stage for a competition; I was on my period retaining water; early 30 , 5’1 and 145lb ✨That year I realized this was as far as I could take my physique w/o chemical substances and I was adamant about not taking any. So l hung up my towel. ✨The last photo was a picture of me a few weeks after my competition. I was softer & more feminine. ✨I never stoped working out. I heard my name called out & to my surprise a lovely young woman got up from her table, politely asked if she could talk a photo w me. My heart filled w humility said “ OF COURSE!” She introduced me to her family & also asked if I could take a photo w her daughter. my heart melted 🥹🫂 As we said our goodbyes she said, “Keep inspiring people w your content.” I was so moved my eyes teared up. 🥹🫶🏽 Two weeks ago at my nieces bday something similar happened while I was talking to parents at the party. I was deeply touched. 🥹 If I’m goin go to be honest sometimes I struggle with using my voice due to the negative backlash I get. I’m human , it hurts. Especially when comes from ppl who claim to love you. I at times hear the voices of my X’s, my childhood buillies: “your not special, “your content is cringe,” “your a nobody.” I fight those demons regularly. Lately, I been praying to God to give me a sign wondering if I’m moving with purpose. These two encounters couldn’t be any louder & clearer. 🙏🏽✨💕 Praise God!
