Matt Wright Instagram - 1 year ago we lost a father, son, brother and mate. Willow was a true legend that lifted the energy wherever he was, with such a positive can do attitude you thought anything was possible when he was around.

Willow lived for adventure, from the very first day I met him he had a sparkle in his eye that would carry him through some of the most amazing experiences across the world.

There was never a moment for rest or down time, Willow was always onto the next big thing, making the most of life and living it to its fullest.
We miss our mate more than anything and his memory will live on through all of us. Willow will go down in the history books as one of Australia’s truest legends. Love ya brother it’s only time and will see each other again.

Matt Wright Instagram - I finally got there… Tarzan is back back in his pen at @topendsafaricamp It shows that with a little time and patience you can work with these magnificent animals to move them around without having to rope them up and restrain them.
Remember guys do not go out there and play with animals, I’ve been working with wildlife since I could walk and talk but working with wildlife when you don’t have the experience and training can end badly for you and the animal. And please remember, if you’re thinking of travelling to the Top End of Australia, be Croc Wise and only swim in designated areas. Thanks for following along guys 🐊😅

Matt Wright Instagram - Two years ago today, we lost a bloody legend. Willow was such a high spirited, high energy, uplifting bloke that brought joy to everyone he came into contact with. He was the definition of a good mate, and it’s not until someone this special is gone, that you truly realise how much they impacted your life because the loss of their presence leaves a hole so big you feel it every day. He has left a big Willow sized hole in all of our lives, it’s just not the same without you. Miss you every day Wilson.

Matt Wright Instagram - A very very sad day today for all of us at @topendsafaricamp 💔 Bonecruncher lost his life in a territorial fight with another male. Bonecruncher brought so much joy to everyone’s lives and has taught so many people about understanding and respecting crocodiles. He was definitely a one in a million animal with a personality and nature more like that of a man’s best friend than a crocodile. I’ve been mates with Bonecruncher for 10 years now, he was my most loved crocodile and I am going to miss him big time as I know all of our staff and friends at the camp will. Rest In Peace mate, you were a ripper 🐊

Sadly, it’s a natural phenomenon that’s usually caused by local rain washing deoxygenated water off the floodplain’s into a billabong like the one here at @topendsafaricamp It gets better for the Barra once the rains get more intense and consistent over the wet season. Our crocs have fat bellies today 🐊 🐟

Chopper was one of the biggest crocs in Australia until he chewed his own tail of making him 2ft shorter, you can see him @topendsafaricamp this year.

Matt Wright Instagram - When Banjo asks to go on a late night adventure, you follow the snake poo, dead magpie geese and rats to find this beautiful big fella.

What an amazing experience to show Banjo this massive olive python in his environment. It’s so important we take the opportunity to show kids respect of the wildlife around them.

We went back the following day to see if we could locate him again but all we found was the snake’s skin that he shed that night. Big thanks to @boutant1976 for taking us on this awesome adventure. How big do you reckon he is 🐍

You are the most extraordinary woman I’ve ever known the most amazing mother, supportive generous wife, loving caring friend to all those around you. When the world feels dark and closing in around me you’re my bright light at the end of the tunnel, if there is such a thing as a guardian angel well you are mine, we’ve definitely had a few challenges over the last 12 months and had to eat a few shit sandwiches. Not once have I seen your strength, love and determination waiver you are the lioness that protects this family, you get knocked down only to get up stronger, you have the patience of a saint and unconditional love for those close to you. Matt Wright Instagram - If your traveling to northern Australia this year here’s a little tip to stop your arse getting chewed by one of these prehistoric dinosaurs.

Do Not swim in any water that is not properly signed to do so.

Some of the largest saltwater crocs live in fresh water.

Just because you see a freshwater croc does not mean there’s no saltwater crocs around.

Do not camp close to waterholes or remote beaches, crocs will travel across land to find a feed.

Do your research on our beautiful wildlife before traveling north, if you get chewed it gives our crocs a bad name be #crocwise and come visit us out @topendsafaricamp to learn more about these amazing creatures

Matt Wright Instagram - The King Brown Snake - one of the deadliest snakes in the world. I used to collect these when I was 8 and bring them home to Mum in a big bucket to show her my “lizard” to her horror. We’re always teaching Banjo to love, respect & understand snakes, both friendly & poisonous, so he doesn’t do the same to us 😉

The @australianreptilepark is renowned for its Deadly & Dangerous Venom program and the King Brown Snake has the biggest venom yield (can produce 1.5 grams!). When people are bitten they react badly & can die but because of incredible anti-venom programs like this most people survive.

It was unreal learning about the process of milking & how the anti-venom is produced, listen in 👍 and we made sure we finished with cuddles from some friendly snakes 🐍🐍🐍

Matt Wright - 59K Likes - Absolutely devastated to find our longest standing and much loved rescue crocodile Tripod dead on my way home from @topendsafaricamp yesterday. I have been working with this croc for over 20 years, and moved him to the camp a decade ago to look after, he was our original big rescue crocodile and became part of our family and the camp’s identity. Tripod was originally caught on the Daly River by Nick Robinson in the 80’s. The crocodile had tried to eat people when they challenged to cross the Daly River and needed to be relocated. He was first named “James Perry Tripod” after a young fella who swam the bait out across the croc infested waters to set the trap that caught this crocodile.
A very sad day, and confusing circumstances because even after conducting a post-mortem it’s still not clear what killed him. RIP Tripod, thank you for all the memories big fella.

I’ve been working with crocs for over 20 years so please don’t ever try to move a crocodile along like this. It’s something I do a quite often in the wet season to save my fences and stop the big males fighting. We’ve had big rain the past couple of months so crocs like this move into areas that you sometimes don’t suspect them and can target dogs livestock & children so be extra vigilant this time of year in the top end, even the most unassuming ponds of water can have crocs in them so be croc wise.
