Alicia Keys Instagram – Everyone has a Miss Liza Jane… That special family member, mentor, teacher or someone that changes your LIFE! When we created the character for Miss Liza Jane in @HellsKitchenBway she was a mixture of my Nana Vergil Disalvatore and my high school music teacher Ms. Aziza.
My Nana was a tremendous woman of stature and power!! She taught me how to be kind, thoughtful, and look everyone I spoke to in the eye. She was the mayor of her town. To know her was to love her!
Then, there’s the magnificent Ms Aziza! I’ll never forget meeting her in 9th grade!! A vibrant and beautiful piano player who could play ANYTHING. She taught me the power of vocal arranging! She is a producer, a writer, an artist… the whole package. She was a mirror into my future! And now, she’s the onstage pianist in the Broadway production of Hell’s Kitchen!! It’s incredible! I’m so honored!
Miss Liza Jane is the best of both of these woman. I want to thank them for pouring so much into me! 💜 So many people have told me the stories about their “Miss Liza Jane’s”
