She absolutely slayed it tonight with her band at @mgmgrand. I’ve seen her a half dozen times on three different continents (starting in something like 2001) and man it’s such a goddamn pleasure watching her dig deeper into her craft every tour. Like Nick. Kintsugi artist. Art person. Stage knower.
Nobody else gets to do what she does. Björk, kinda. But truly, nobody in a rock venue gets to command this kind of focus from her audience on the bare and unapologetic back of her massive and unbelievably personal, impersonal, gorgeous, deliberate, fleshy, cold, weird and varied body of work.
There is fucking nothing on earth like PJ Harvey.
(Also I’ve missed being in a town where I run into 14 people I know and have worked with when I go to a show. I am so happy to be home.)
