Amanda Palmer Instagram – And…it’s weird secret show time. Clearly the theme this week: back to my roots I go, in every possibly way.
I am beyond theater-dork honored to be a part of this project…from the producers of “Sleep No More”, NYC’s long-running immersive masterpiece, comes an even more ambitious show immersive called “Life And Trust”.
The time? The night before the crash, 1929. The place? Multiple gilded floors of a long-abandoned Art Deco Wall Street bank building in the heart of the financial district in NYC. The address? I am not kidding you. 69 Beaver Street.
Faustian bargains, corporate greed, soul-selling, and more beauty and physicla theater talent than you can handle. All gorgeously scripted and threaded together by my old frenemy, Jon Ronson. I got to see the show when it opened, about a month ago, and I felt truly inspired. Good immersive theater does that. It breaks your heart and brain open to fall into these space. (You don a mask, you become part of the world, and you literally have to check your phone at the door.)
So, back to life. I’m going to do a secret, private little show within the set of the theater this Tuesday night (Sept 24th), with one of my best and oldest cabaret friends, Meow Meow. We will almost definitely film part of it and send it to the patrons. What will we do? What will we play? WHAT WILL WE WEAR? We’re working on it.
I’m just doing this because….its fun. I’m not getting paid to promote the show. I just love it, and I miss my fringe theater weirdos. Ticket link went to patrons only yesterday, check your boxes and you may still luck out. Also…join the patreon, especially if you live in or near New York or Boston, I’m about to start getting totally weird and creative with my little community again and you do not wanna miss these things. (I am seriously plotting a piano cruise to a lighthouse.)
You can get tickets to the actual @lifeandtrust show NOW, and trust me, it’s worth it. Wear comfortable shoes. It’s a lot of walking around.
