This summer has been tough! Ground has been tricky, figuring horses out is a challenge and the competition this year is fierce! What used to place… just doesn’t.
That can wear on you. The miles don’t change, the entry fees are still paid, the time is still spent… but the results aren’t the same. That is when you are given a choice. A choice to be miserable, angry, and upset or a choice to be grateful, happy and proud of you and your horse.
I have had to find positives in my runs even when the money earned doesn’t reflect the effort put in. I have to find happiness in the moments between the runs. I have to be grateful to live a life some will only dream about. I allow myself to be disappointed when it doesn’t go as planned, but I also allow myself the grace that we are not failing. We will only fail if we cease to keep trying!
Pick happy!! Pick grateful!! It’s way more fun that way! 💞
