Camryn Manheim Instagram – My mother was born in 1925. She turned 99 years old this week. She celebrated by having a lemonade stand in front of her home and giving out cookies and advice to all the neighbors, whether they wanted it or not.
My mom has had an extraordinary life. She marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, fought against Joseph McCarthy and proudly marched for pro-choice her entire adult life. She fought for unions, freedom of speech, equity for women and healthcare for all. A teacher, an activist and an undiscovered talkshow host, my mom is still interviewing every Uber driver, college student, bank teller and mail carrier she comes in contact with.
If you ever see her sitting on her bench outside of her house, take a seat and stay for a while. I promise you will feel better if you do.
