Elisa Donovan Instagram – #tbt This was our last night in Puglia. **PLEASE READ FULL POST** At the absolutely gorgeous @borgoegnazia with dear old friends and dear new friends, amidst a big beautiful celebratory party filled with families from all over the world. Minutes before this photo was taken, I walked over to the table to find Scarlett sitting with Charlie, crying. I had no idea what happened. I sat down and she said, “Sometimes I get so sad when I think about Pierce and that he will never be here again. How does Lesley go on? She must be so sad all the time. It’s just not fair.”

“You’re right,” I said. “It isn’t fair.”
And we cried with her. And told her it will never be OK that he was taken away so young & in such an unspeakably violent way, and that that can make us feel impotent and helpless. But what we can do is support one another, love one another, listen to one another, and lift Lesley up when she needs it.
And we can also affect change. We can raise our voices and raise awareness to stop senseless gun violence from impacting more families.
I’m so proud of Scarlett for expressing her feelings and being brave and openhearted.
Please talk to your children about difficult things. It engenders empathy and a willingness to connect on a deep level. It can bring you closer. 🙏 ❤️
