This was the day after my 2nd tattoo removal, but it was the first one that actually tore me up a little. This treatment left bruises, swelling and cuts all over my body. I was definitely feeling vulnerable & disoriented. I do not deal well with visuals of bodily harm- getting a mole removed from my leg was bordering traumatizing for me lmao. Stitches are so gross to me; to see your body sewn up like a doll? Ick. This was also the day after my birthday. I planned this day to be day 1 of a year of sobriety. When I got home, I found a little roach of a joint from the night before. It was enough that I carried a pleasant high throughout the day. I couldn’t think about literally anything but what was under those bandages otherwise. And bullying myself for putting myself in the position to be all bandaged up. So, these were my last moments being high before I committed to a year sober. What you’re seeing is just intuitive movement- not quite dance, but a little more than stretching lol. I like to mitigate chronic pain by putting on music, just letting my body guide me to the places that need to be stretched or strengthened. I don’t condone smoking to anyone- ESPECIALLY if you’re under 25, ESPECIALLY if you’re not in a mentally and spiritually solid place, ESPECIALLY if you’re in a place or circumstance where it is not legal. Still, I can’t deny the good it did for me, and this is one of those situations. It helped me connect my soul to my body in a meaningful, spiritual way. I learned a lot about anatomy just by moving with intention, and by studying my own body in the mirror while I did it. I connected with the music part of a song in a way I never had before; my mind has always hyper-fixated on the lyrics. So this video was me, hours before I dove into a year of sobriety. And now, I guess, the somewhat semiofficial visualizer of my song, “Stone Heart” from my 2022 album, Trauma Queen.
