Imelda May Instagram – I was incredibly honoured to be invited
to perform a show in celebration
of the great Lady Augusta Gregory
in the @abbeytheatredublin last night.
Lady Gregory was such an important figure in Ireland
not least as a great poet and playwrite but also as an active researcher, collector. preserver and translator
of our old and rich oral traditions which
without her might well have been forever lost.
She was one of the founder members of
the Abbey Theatre itself and a leading figure
in the Irish revivalist movement.
I was delighted to meet with Lady Gregory’s family especially her great granddaughter Jane Murray-Brown

who player such an important part
of a very special evening.
