Any kewpie mayo lovers out there?
Hello everyone! It’s been a while- My apartment is getting demolished, so I had to unexpectedly (and quite suddenly!) move house. Moving both a living space and a studio after six years has taken so much work (and isn’t done yet!) To make matters worse, I won’t have Wifi until September 17th… and my new apartment has spotty cell service. Ugh. So internet access has been and will continue to be irregular.
However, this month’s FAM theme being “salad,” I knew I wanted to showcase this painted I did for a client last year (and hadn’t posted yet.) While I ate a lot of potato salad in the US, Japanese potato salad is definitely different! No mustard is used, and it’s standard to use kewpie mayonaise (tangier, sweeter, and more umami-rich than US majo) with the addition of cucumbers and carrots. Yum!! I love to eat it alongside potato chips

でも今回のチャレンジテーマは「サラダ」とのことで、以前仕事で描いた日本のポテトサラダの絵を投稿します。実は日本のポテトサラダはアメリカと違います！アメリカではきゅうりなど使わず、卵嚢のないマヨを使って、マスタードも結構入れます。アメリカのポテトサラダはインパクトが強くて、日本のポテトサラダは優しい味です！ポテトチップスと一緒に食べるのが好きですね❤️
