Lilly Singh Instagram – We lost a hero today 💜 You may recall that last year I had the privilege of meeting Sam Sir, founder of @pardadapardadi, a girls school that @unicornisland proudly supports.
Not only did I get to meet Sam Sir, but we had the honour of staying at his house and spending quality time with him. Over those few days, my team and I got to hear countless stories from his life, eat dinner with him and above all else…learn from him. Since that meeting, my mom and I often reminisce about our time with Sam Sir and how we have never met anyone quite like him.
A lot of stuff from my trips to India gets posted online, because I find it important to show our supporters exactly where their donations go. But there are some connections and moments that a camera can never truly capture and my time with Sam Sir is a prime example of that. He genuinely captured my heart and made me think differently.
When no one else believed in him, he had a vision to educate girls. He failed countless times before succeeding to build a now thriving school. And he is a reminder of what it truly means to build a legacy. Because of him, thousands of girls will be able to take a different path than the one initially set out for them.
I’m heartbroken to hear of his passing, a mere 2 weeks before I would have seen him again during my annual trip to India. Spending more time with him was something I was looking forward to. But I am so grateful to have met him and am dedicated to building upon his legacy in my own way. None of us can do everything, but we can all do something.
RIP Sam Sir 💜 You will live on forever.
