(I got news ❤️) Über ein halbes Jahr wurde geplant, jetzt geht es los. Dank vielen Beteiligten werde ich die nächsten zwei Monate bis nach den US-Wahlen an 15 Universitäten, Colleges und Schulen an der US-Ostküste über Klima, Aktivismus und Politik sprechen & diskutieren. Als Visiting Scholar der Brandeis University in Boston werde ich unterrichten und von Aktivist:innen aus der Region über ihre Kämpfe lernen. In New York bin ich bei Veranstaltungen zur UN Generalversammlung zu Gast, beim Club of Rome und der New York Climate Week, ich darf Vorträge in Yale und Harvard halten, Wahlkampf Swing-States beobachten und Lesungen zu meinem ins Englisch übersetzte Buch geben. Ich war noch nie in den USA und bin vor allem sehr, sehr gespannt. In diesen Monaten bis zur Wahl wird nicht nur in Teilen die Zukunft der USA verhandelt, sondern auch ein existenzieller Kampf zwischen Faschismus, Demokratie, fossilen Lobbies und Klimagerechtigkeit ausgetragen. Weltweit erstarkt der Faschismus, überall lassen sich fossile Rückwärtsbewegungen beobachten. Um als Klimabewegung (wieder) gewinnen zu können, brauchen wir neue Strategien und bessere Vernetzungen – auch deshalb habe ich mich für diese Reise entschieden. Und ich befürchte, dass vieles, was wir im US Wahlkampf erleben werden, im nächsten Jahr im Bundestagswahlkampf für uns relevant werden wird. Und weil ich vermute, dass es trotz sorgfältiger Pläne Fragen zur Anreise gibt: Ich habe mir viele Gedanken gemacht, ob all das den Flug wert ist. Die Welt bebt an so vielen Stellen, die Zeit rennt uns davon und ich fände es naiv davon auszugehen, dass wir dagegenhalten können, ohne ganz bewusst die Perspektive zu wechseln & von anderen zu lernen. Ich freue mich sehr euch mitzunehmen in diese Zeit, in den Wahlkampf, die ökologischen Fragen auf der anderen Seite des Atlantiks und alles drum herum. 🇺🇸🌎❤️ . . 📸 @marzenaskubatz
