I have left the house twice this week. I’m scared of everybody out there now.
I mean the level of response you see to every perceived slight. I’m scared to accidentally inconvenience someone.
Did you see the guy who got beat to a pulp with a golf club because he had the nerve to walk on the golf cart path?
Now I am gonna admit a fair amount of ignorance of the game. And I don’t know how big a faux pas walking on that path is but I can’t imagine it’s worth a butt whupping.
Deeper still dude wielding the golf club was aghast at having been arrested for whomping this other guy.
Never let your good fortune start to feel like a right. If you’re golfing mid day things are probably okay for you. When an inconvenience angers you that much you have some #emotional work to do.
Now I don’t know what underlying stressors the club wielding dude was dealing with – and you have to remember that – not as an excuse but in an effort to understand.
Just because the veneer looks good you don’t know what’s roiling just beneath.
Doesn’t justify a thing but it helps us learn. You can’t fix what you don’t understand.
You know, we spend a good part of our day having our feelings poked for no reason at all. To get views people get more and more controversial. Use stronger language, speak with greater intensity.
When fed a constant diet of real and performative angst, we end up carrying around a lot of fight of flight chemicals that can’t tell the difference between the thing that first upset you and the next thing that happens to happen to you.
Watch your emotional house as you scroll. Then make sure any upset earned by others and trotted out in front of you on your phone doesn’t follow you to the grocery store … cause I go there.
Lawd, what I wrote had nothing to do with the video … I ramble in the morning.
