While I was celebrating in #NYC yesterday, I learned from my mother that there was a school shooting in Winder, Georgia which is just a hop, skip and jump from where I grew up. As a child growing up in a college town, I never knew of any violence and always felt safe. I even hitchhiked one time to see if anyone would pick me up. Thank goodness I was picked up and arrived at my best friend’s home safely. Unfortunately, now nowhere seems safe even in the smallest towns. I have a 14-year-old son and know some of the people affected by this tragedy. Please #pray for this school and all children who innocently go to school with the hopes of gaining an education and returning home safely. Please hold politicians feet to the fire to have real conversations about school safety because none of these mass tragedies are due to anyone crossing the border.
