After working in the field of casting for all these years I hands down believe in qismat! Yes ofcourse, hard work and talent matter but the way new faces are found and discovered it’s nothing but destiny! Fun Story: I took a break from casting after finishing Laila Majnu but Sadia’s audition video was in the hard disk and when a year later the casting team was casting for Shikara, they too were looking for a Kashmiri girl. They found Sadia’s tape in Laila Manjnu’s folder and requested her to test. She tested again but wasn’t sure if her family would allow her to do this. The casting team flew to Kashmir to test her in person and convinced her parents to let her do the film since the director really liked her. I had no idea about this! Cut to 2020, I watched the film during lockdown and wondered ‘wow what a beautiful girl this is, why couldn’t I find her during Laila Majnu!’ It had been more than 4 years and I had completely forgotten about her. I posted a story about the film and tagged the casting team congratulating them! Sadia saw that story, texted me on Instagram and reminded me that I was the first person ever to text her years back and how she was sorry about ghosting me! I just couldn’t believe this! We continued chatting throughout the lockdown and bonded over Pakistani shows amongst other things! Once the lockdown was lifted, we met, became friends and today she is one of my closest friends in Mumbai❤️❤️❤️ If this is not destiny then what is!
