Alexa Nikolas Instagram – On Tuesday, September 17, the Ford Foundation along with the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women and the Skoll Foundation, hosted Free Future 2024: Preventing Gender Violence Around the World.
This event brought thought leaders, public figures, and organizers together to take on the global crisis of gender-based violence and raise public awareness about the increasing violence that women, girls, and gender non-conforming people face globally in many forms—and the work we can all do to prevent it.
In 2024, nearly 1 in 3 women are still at risk of experiencing gender-based violence in their lifetimes. Even more alarming, femicide rates have risen significantly, with too many countries lacking the laws to protect women and gender-nonconforming people from this ongoing crisis.
It’s time to take action. We know the solutions, and together, we can end this global epidemic!
