Brenda Strong Instagram – This radiant soul is my mother Jean. I am so blessed to have learned how to love from her. Someone once asked me what my mother looked like, and I said “She looks like love walking in the room.” I know I’m lucky. Today I celebrate her. But I also celebrate those who embody the essence of Mother, whether you are one or not. Loving kindness can be expressed on the daily, not just with children, but with pets, the elderly, those less fortunate, strangers, or even the most difficult, ourselves. Even if you didn’t have the kind of mother I did to set an example, it’s never too late to learn. The old adage stands true: If you want something- give it. The reason she was such an incredible mother was because she wanted to break a cycle. She had to learn from scratch and was willing to do the uncomfortable work of showing up. Sending you love today. I know it can be a day fraught with complex feelings. In the face of that, I encourage you to give yourself some unconditional “mother” love. That’s what Jean would have wanted.
