Chuck. Dancing in your plane changed my life. The most glorious sunsets, outrageous turbulence, popping in and out of clouds, your popcorn FOD, -3 G’s, 52 8G pulls and one perfect loop you never let me forget… you mean more to me than I ever expressed and there’s so much more to say but my words don’t do you justice. Rest in peace, friend. I’ll try to keep bogie-spotting in your absence.

My first ever press day was at the TCA’s with Carl Weathers and for an entire day he was pummeled with questions about Apollo Creed …so towards the end of the day I asked him, “do you ever get tired of getting the same questions about a role you did so long ago?” and he said “you know I did… there was a period of time in my career where I wouldn’t answer those questions because I was so tired of them, but then I realized how much of a privilege it was to have gotten the opportunity to play such a legendary character… someone people won’t forget. I realized some actors never get that, and I’m lucky to get to keep being remembered for it.”
It was with this grace that he approached so many situations in this wild industry. He was always willing to mentor and talk about anything. Always composed and thoughtful.
This feels way too soon to have to say goodbye, Carl. But I hope you know you’ll be remembered for a lifetime of beautiful work.
