Here’s an excerpt:
[Peter Ivers – Becoming Peter Ivers
A friend of mine showed me the original “In Heaven” song recorded by him and I was floored. I went deep into his lure and watched all of the New Wave Theatre videos. He has an earnestness and charm to his songs. I immediately felt nostalgic hearing this record for the first time.
Flaming Tunes – Flaming Tunes
This album is a huge influence on my own music. The beats in this album are huge inspiration. It all feels very organic and visceral. The album feels very haunted and like a world I feel comfortable in.
Kleenex -liliput
I was listening to this album a lot for the first season of Yellowjackets. I imagined Natalie would’ve loved this band and used pictures of the band members for reference to the costume designer. This album is my go to “get hyped” music or if I need a pick me up.
Sparklehorse- Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot
“Weird Sisters” is one of my favorite songs ever. I grew up on this album so it holds a very special place in my heart. Every song on it is a masterpiece. I love you Mark Linkous.
Tall Dwarfs – Fork Songs
The song The Slide off this album is also one of my favorite songs. It’s so sexy and melancholy. Something about New Zealand 90s indie hits different. Anything Flying Nun I’m all here for. I think this is the third band I’ve listed off Flying Nun, so there you go. ]
