Backstory :
When I was ten years old, we used to spend our summer vacation at my aunt’s house in Kochi.
They had wallpaper photographs of lovely destinations stuck up here and there. One of my favourites was Japan Sakura, which is why it is my dream destination. Then a waterside tulip garden with the words
“Keukenhof garden, Holland” written in the corner 😍
With limited internet access back then, I assumed Holland was in America. Even if I had known it was in Europe, I would have thought the same. As a girl from a middle-class household, I couldn’t have imagined being able to visit Europe.
But I was a dreamer, and I always saw myself going there in a nice dress, holding some tulips in my hand, and walking around the gardens 💐
16 years later, I decided to go to that garden first when I got my first Schengen visa.
This beautiful 79-acre garden contains a vast variety of tulips. Never seen such lovely tulips. I searched for that picture area but couldn’t find it. A person told me that because it is an old photo, they may have modified it 💔
We spent 4hrs there, admiring the gorgeous garden. I took a lot of pictures and videos. But that emotion of not being able to view that picture in real life, even though I was in that place, hit me hard 😔
We decided to leave after 4 hours, and while walking towards the main gate, we took a wrong turn and found a building where they show 1990s images. And behind that building… I saw my dream place. The emotion of seeing that picture place in real life with my eyes, I don’t know how to describe it 😭
