Narges Mohammadi may have cancer, her lawyer Mostafa Nili announced on November 3, 2024. He revealed that, following a hospital transfer delayed by nine weeks despite multiple urgent reasons, doctors detected “a bone lesion in her right leg, suspected of being cancerous.” An immediate “biopsy or surgery” is required for a definitive diagnosis.
Mostafa Nili, Narges Mohammadi’s lawyer, shared a health update about his client—a human rights activist imprisoned in Evin—on the social media platform X. Based on last week’s hospital assessment, he emphasized that Mohammadi suffers from numerous health issues.
He reported that an MRI of Mohammadi’s neck and back showed a “progression of arthritis and disc disease.” Despite the doctor’s recommendation for 10 sessions of physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment last year, approval for her transfer has still not been granted. The doctor warned that further delays could lead to “irreversible consequences.”
Emphasizing the urgent need for regular medical follow-ups and avoidance of stress, as strongly advised by her doctors, Narges Mohammadi’s lawyer stated they would “demand her immediate transfer to the hospital, as well as a medical furlough and sentence suspension from the prosecutor’s office.”
