Keegan Connor Tracy Instagram – My dad died.
I have often wondered how it would feel when it happened, what my heart would say because he was a stranger to me in many ways.
Turns out my heart feels conflicted and confused.
I searched through a box of pictures but found only scraps, and, well, that fits.
It will take a long time to process my feelings, the things that come up as I sift through memories, many of which are very difficult.
The whole thing was strange and disorienting. Seeing him in hospice was tremendously shocking, a thing I may never quite recover from.
There were no real goodbyes.
No frayed ends tied up nicely.
There’s just a hole filled with a lot of questions and regrets.
I am glad I flew back to see him, terrible at it was, and I am so grateful for the people at @hospicesarnia who do incredible work with one of the most difficult and emotionally complicated experiences of a lifetime. I’m grateful that on my last visit he seemed to see me for a brief moment, that he knew, despite it all, that I came in the end.
I hope you rest easy Dad.
