Laura Heikkala Instagram – My solo exhibition ”Siellä täällä” will be held at @galleriakalleria in Helsinki from December 5th to 18th.
This exhibition is a retrospective of works from 2018 to present year, bringing together pieces that explore the theme of ’places’.
Japan and its atmosphere, popular culture and sceneries have been a big inspiration to me for a long time, and the influence can be seen in my works throughout my career. These past years living in Japan, warm memories of my childhood and nostalgia towards my home country Finland have been even more prevalent in my works. I decided to bring together paintings from past and present with settings reminiscent of Finland and Japan.
