Truth is long distance relationships are not for the weak and having one person leave their world behind for someone is inexplicably harder. To have someone who left everything he knew, everything he loved, entering a whole new country, whole new environment purely just to be by my side and support me with my personal family situation (which I’m sure many of you will understand) has been nothing short of a blessing. An answered prayer if you will. So much load has been lifted off my shoulder because this man chooses to not just lift with me but lift me while he’s at it.
Having one person leave their world and move to the other side poses it’s own challenges. We don’t get to have the best of both worlds and families at once. We miss so many important days, celebrations and milestones. You watch your partner have a longing that deeply pains you and you feel so helpless..
There’s always a void that’s hard to fill and it’s a continued 🎢 that we work through day in and day out.
Of course it’s hard to pick up the phone and document the hard days and moments and you naturally want to preserve the happy moments but I’d love to highlight many people go through so many highs and lows. We scroll and watch the highlights of people’s lives and sometimes we forget there are so many battles being fought behind all of that. There’s a lesson in every experience. Through the tough times you learn sooooo much about yourselves and you realise what truly matters is how you choose to choose each other and work through all the chaos and hurdles together. We’ve lived many years intimately feeling the pain of being apart and now we fight for a life that gives us the freedom to be between both worlds and families in due time 🤍
But for now I’m going to relish in my answered prayer 🙏🏾
