Only regret, should have spent longer as there’s so much to absorb. Our kids, one at a football match and one at an interschool MUN, couldn’t make it and Roopak had work so I went solo and ofcourse met sooo many people I knew. This feeling of familiarity, of belonging is a special thing and I am grateful to call our beautiful (though polluted) city, Bombay/ Mumbai, home.
Not sure why I started with that but I think it’s because #artmumbai immediately felt warm, vibrant and home like.
I loved the #art , the atmosphere, the warm hospitality, the bands that friends of
our kids performed in and the feeling of belonging, as described above. These intangible things are often hard to explain so apologies if this sounds a bit philosophical but it’s a feeling. Being at the racecourse, familiar turf, pun intended, haaha, added to that!
I have grown up with art all around me. Dad #partapsharma was a multifaceted artist, not painter, but an author, playwright, known for his amazing voice, actor and more, Mum #suesharma an art historian, is a wonderful artist (water colours mainly and for now mostly for family) herself and goes to galleries, museums and lectures constantly, always learning. She often says the access one has in Bombay to amazing art is at par or better than anywhere in the world. My parents have and had several artist friends. Some I didn’t even realise then were famous, always humble. I don’t go to galleries nearly as much as I should but I try and learn through osmosis but this art fair is super especially for those of us who may not go to #galleries often as it’s all under one, or a few huge tents rather, space. Kudos and thanks @minal_vazirani (and for being in this haaha) @dgvazirani Mohit of @official360one Shaheen &all the team.
Ah and for me art 🖼️ or paintings are anything I love looking at. It needn’t be expensive or by someone famous, just whatever we like. Our walls are full of art, many unknown and obscure but all things we love to look at. Some by our kids too ❤️🧿.
