Alicia Banit Instagram – I felt like an absolute imposter putting this bikini on. One that I hadn’t worn since before having Isla. I felt like I looked stupid wearing it and having a kid. I said to my mum ‘am I not too old for this, don’t I look a bit mutton dressed up as lamb?’ (I know that’s an old saying, do a google 😂) but I honestly felt like now that I’m a mum I shouldn’t wear this cute bikini. Who the hell did I think I was wearing something like this? Then I looked back at this video. And honestly what the hell was I thinking?! Like why should I NOT wear it?! Where in the world would I get any kind of idea like that? Then I saw a TikTok and it all made sense. I was 9 when Kylie Minogue released her song ‘I’m Spinning Around’ and in the video clip she wore a singlet and cute booty shorts. She looked incredible. I remember the news stories and articles all saying how absolutely BRAVE she was being an older woman and dressing like that. How she was pushing boundaries for someone her age. How out of the ordinary it was for someone her age to look that good! She was 32 years old. I’m sorry WHAT?! The societal conditioning is wild. So ya’ll wear the bikini. Cos I bet ya if you think you look bad now you’ll look back in a couple of years and say what the hell was I thinking, I looked so good back then! This whole loving yourself and accepting yourself thing can be hard but we’re all just doing our best, aren’t we? Also just a side note. If you ever get a bloated belly, don’t try to hide it.
