Over the 15 years I was in the fashion industry I experienced labor trafficking, I worked for free, I worked for clothing, I worked for “exposure.” I had clients that apparently never paid. I was sexually harassed, verbally, financially and emotionally abused, physically endangered on shoots, I escaped an attempt at sex trafficking… and I consider myself one of the lucky ones.
The good news is that the #FahionWorkersAct would provide basic protections to models so that the industry can take a positive step forward. And it’s been passed in the NY state Senate and Assembly!
