Gavin Creel is a Broadway legend. And a man with a legendary kindness and passion for the arts and the people in it that has changed everyone and anyone who knew him by any means. I am simply heartbroken… what a tremendous loss for us 💔

For Broadway star Eva Noblezada (@livevamaria), the theater is a place where alchemy happens every day. She draws from the transformative power of theater to change lives, including her own. “Even if I’m feeling anxious,” she tells Vogue Philippines, “the second I go into my character and I begin that transformation, I use that energy and transform that into part of my character, my voice, or the way that I move.” For Vogue Philippines’ Holiday Issue, Eva Noblezada talks about theater as a magical, transformative space, and inviting audiences into a rarified world turned real. After her five-year run in the Tony-award sweeping Hadestown, Eva Noblezada was announced as Daisy in the new staging of The Great Gatsby (@bwaygatsby). She built her character from the ground up, exploring everything from her period-specific mannerisms to her status and privileged upbringing. “All of these things, you put together and mold to create this person,” Eva says. “And you keep going.” For Vogue Philippines’ Holiday Issue, Eva Noblezada talks about theater as a magical, transformative space, and inviting audiences into a rarified world turned real. The experience of being part of Miss Saigon in 2015 was eye-opening for Eva Noblezada. What was supposed to be a dream job revealed itself to be part of a larger discourse on Asian representation. As an Asian performer, Eva felt a responsibility to portray Asian characters with dignity, free from sexist and racist stereotypes. Today, she can look back on the journey and say she has gained more wisdom as a woman: “I know what my power is, and it continues to grow.” For Vogue Philippines’ Holiday Issue, Eva Noblezada talks about theater as a magical, transformative space, and inviting audiences into a rarified world turned real.
