Koo Hye-sun Instagram – 안녕하세요. 여러분. 제가 ‘가난하지 않았던 나의 동네’라는 수필로 ‘제 30회 카이스트 문학상’ 수상자로 선정이 되어 지난 5일 수상을 하게 되었어요. 당일 기쁜 소식을 직접 전해 드리려 했으나 국가의 중대한 일이 가장 중요한 까닭에 이제서야 인사를 드려요.
저는 유년시절 인천의 작은 마을에서 자라나 10년이 넘도록 마을 공동체와 가족보다 더 가족처럼 지내며 사랑을 나누었던 찬란한 순간들을 고스란히 기억하고 있어요. 그래서 마흔이 된 지금에도 저는 당시 가족과도 같았던 이웃의 사랑을 잊지 않고 있으며, 가난한 마음으로 인생을 살아가지 않겠다는 다짐을 담은 수필을 완성하게 되었어요.
카이스트 문학상으로 인해 저의 유년시절의 이야기를 전달드릴 기회를 얻게 되어 감사한 마음이고, 현시대인들에게 이웃과의 사랑의 숭고함을 전해드릴 수 있어 기쁜 마음이에요. 또한 미숙한 저의 글을 수상자로 선정해 주신 카이스트에도 진심으로 감사드립니다.

Hello. Everyone. I was selected as the winner of the 30th KAIST Literary Award for my essay, “My Neighborhood That Was Not Poor,” and I received the award on the 5th. I wanted to tell you the good news in person on the day, but since the country’s important work is the most important, I am greeting you now.
I remember the brilliant moments when I was young, growing up in a small village in Incheon, and spending more than 10 years with my village community and family, sharing ’Love‘. That’s why even now that I’m in my 40s, I still haven’t forgotten the love I had with my neighbors, who were like family to me at the time, and I completed an essay that contains my determination not to live my life with a poor heart.
I am grateful that I have the opportunity to share my childhood story through the KAIST Literary Award, and I am happy that I can convey to people of this era the nobility of sharing love with their neighbors.
