Lana Parrilla Instagram – Sometime back in my twenties I learned what “exchange” means in relationships as the word has several meanings.
Definition: an act when someone receives something, the other must give back.
When you really think about what that looks like, it’s pretty straightforward, yet sadly not often experienced enough or reciprocated.
It doesn’t have to be of equal quantity but do your best to make it of quality. It’s not about money. It’s the mindful thought. The simple act itself. Taking the ACT-ion step. Doing something for someone else. Being conscience of the other. Having the DESIRE to want to give back because it makes someone feel loved, seen and appreciated. It’s a creative act and fun as f**k.
Whether it comes naturally or something to be mindful of, it’s a wonderful gift for all involved when there is an “equal exchange” in relationships.
I decided to share more than I usually do because I’ve been talking about “exchange” as of late and as I was posting photos of Levi and a feather Lola left me, I thought about the joyful love, commitment and respect we share.
We’ve prospered because our dynamic is rooted in this definition of “exchange”. For them it’s unconditional and unconscious. For humans it is a choice.
My days are often filled with thoughts on how to give Levi what he needs to be the best version of himself because he brings me so much happiness and love into my life. Lola benefited from this act of love and I believed lived as long as she did because of it.
Tip for the day: Try to give back to those who have been good and generous to you, in big and / or small ways. It’s the ultimate gift you can give to them and to oneself. You will feel so fulfilled and your relationships will blossom with everyone in your life.
