Sayani Gupta Instagram – There are films that you watch & fall in love with but fall short of words while describing them. I was floored and it took me this long to muster up the ability to put my feelings into words. #girlswillbegirls is a breath of fresh air! A universal story that we all would relate to. A gentle hand while writing, shooting, editing the film. A gaze that very few filmmakers manage with such innate understanding of human emotions & empathy. It’s one of the best coming of age films of modern times.
I couldn’t be more proud of @therichachadha @alifazal9 for choosing this as their first film to produce. What an absolute triumph!
@shuchayy._ is in the list of my favourite directors now. The experiences feel so lived, and the patience she seems to have had for her actors and the material. It’s rare to see a debut director so in control of her voice. The camera work is truly spectacular. And while watching the film I kept wondering who could it be. It was @jihepeng & it had to be a woman.. the sensitivity & love with which she frames.
The performances are pitch perfect. @kantari_kanmani @preetiwooman are beautiful as the mother daughter duo. The music and @snekhanwalkar ‘s track punch in so much swag and charm into the narrative. I truly am thankful to @amazonprime for championing this film but also hope for a world where this film will be released in theatres to houseful shows. Watch it guys. It’s too delicious! Only love!
