Sierra Boggess Instagram – It’s an all hands on deck morning. Closing this chapter of our show @midnightbway is hitting me hard. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been in a company this committed and loving and caring and diverse and bright and willing and fearless…. The list goes on. Our director brilliant Rob Ashford told us on day 1 that we are “time travelers” we get to travel back in time to tell this story. These real people who actually existed together in a melting pot called Savannah. And this understanding that we are simply time traveling to tell the story allowed all of us to feel safe AND seen and taken care of to handle so many different subject matters and themes and values in order to give YOU the best show possible.
Our brilliant choreographer @sohumanity made sure that we were always coming back to the spirit and the intention and thru not just her iconic movement but her understanding of what was at stake in every moment.
Then there’s @masterguan who musically wove together humans from the most diverse backgrounds and gave each of them their own unique sound. WHO CAN DO THAT I ASK YOU?? JRB that’s who.
And THEN there is @taylormacnyc who is genius in every sense of the word. I have never felt so supported in the understanding of what story we are telling because Taylor is at the helm, penning this in a way so creative and brilliant I can’t even describe. We got to literally BLESS the audience and the WORLD every single night with our hand made confetti and our one and only @jharrisonghee INVITING us to answer a call higher than what we knew possible.
And so with this, I sit here with my @drwaynedyer and my Pockeful of Miracles (thank you J!!) and my journal (thank you @sherrywright123) and my light lessons and my coffee and my water and try and make sense of what the hell that most special experience was. We made art in the most unconventional of ways. And who knew I would have so much fun stepping into Emma Dawes who is as one track minded as they come and yet I feel more sure of humanity than ever before.
