Sofia Escobar Instagram – Today I went to a mall with my sister near our holiday home and we were having a very light afternoon of girly chats and checking the sales. Then we decided to head back and on the way there’s a pedestrian bridge with a highway under. We were walking on the bridge and saw a shopping bag, a shoe and a bucket turned upside down. We thought it was odd for a second and then I peeked and saw a young man had jumped.. I’m not going to describe what I saw. And both of us were in shock for quite a while. This soul had gone to the mall, bought a bucket to serve as a stool to jump of the bridge.
Now this led to me thinking a lot of things. One was what if I had gotten there a couple of minutes before? Would I have been able to talk to him? Would I have been able to change anything? And then it led to me thinking maybe if someone in the mall had an act of kindness to him, something as simple as a smile, maybe that would have changed something? Maybe the cashier who sold him the bucket? Or maybe not… But still, sometimes kindness can make a difference. No one can ever guess the power of a smile, a kind word… I don’t know, I’m still quite shaken and thinking of his family, his friends.
