My mom was moved out of the ICU yesterday, and is now recovering in the Surgical Trauma Neuro Unit. She has amnesia, which should improve with time, and has begun physical therapy and speech therapy.
I’m back in Utah now, trying to get back into a somewhat normal routine. I’ll be making frequent visits, but she has friends and family visiting her daily in Minneapolis and is in amazing hands at the hospital.
Thank you to my friends who offered to travel to Costa Rica with me, everyone who offered to watch Sunny, my friends in healthcare I came to for advice, and those of my mom’s friends I leaned heavily on as her temporary replacement.
